Danish financial education platform Female Invest has raised $23 million in funding to expand its mission of making financial literacy accessible to women globally. The company, which operates in 125 countries, aims to transform how women approach investing and wealth building.
Founded in 2019 by Anna-Sophie Hartvigsen, Emma Due Bitz, and Camilla Falkenberg, Female Invest has grown from a grassroots initiative into a comprehensive platform serving thousands of paying members worldwide. The company's achievements include publishing the Sunday Times bestseller "Girls Just Wanna Have Funds" and earning recognition in Forbes' 30 Under 30.
The new funding marks a major milestone, especially considering that only one percent of venture capital traditionally goes to women-founded businesses. "Many people dismissed the idea, assuming women were not interested in investing," noted Hartvigsen. "We stayed persistent, built a community, and proved that women are hungry for financial empowerment."
Female Invest addresses both structural and psychological barriers women face in finance. The platform offers webinars, financial courses, and expert-led discussions designed to build financial confidence regardless of income level.
With the fresh capital, Female Invest plans to expand into the U.S. market and enhance its educational offerings. The company will host a financial literacy webinar in February 2025, providing practical investment strategies to its global community.
The platform's impact extends beyond education. Last summer, Female Invest installed a symbolic hourglass in London, highlighting the World Economic Forum's estimate that closing the financial gender gap could take 169 years.
"Financial independence isn't about how much money you make—it's about how you manage it," says Hartvigsen, emphasizing that investing should be accessible to everyone, not just millionaires.
The UK remains Female Invest's largest market, demonstrating strong demand for women's financial education. Through its expanding platform and growing community, Female Invest continues working toward its goal of making financial literacy the norm for women worldwide.
