Swiss workers are leading the global adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in the workplace, but many are using it improperly and against company policies, reveals a new KPMG survey.

The study found that 77% of Swiss employees use AI tools professionally, substantially exceeding the global average of 58%. However, this high adoption rate comes with concerning behaviors.

Half of the Swiss workers surveyed admitted to violating company regulations when using AI, including uploading sensitive company data to free public AI tools. Even more worryingly, 74% don't verify AI-generated results, leading to work errors reported by 63% of users.

The survey also uncovered that 69% of Swiss workers have presented AI-generated content as their own work. Despite widespread use, only about half have received proper training, though 57% believe they can use AI tools effectively.

Trust remains a key issue, with just 46% of respondents expressing confidence in AI technology, both in Switzerland and globally. The majority of Swiss workers (65%) support legal regulation of AI tools, slightly lower than the global figure of 70%.

The findings come from KPMG's comprehensive study involving 48,000 participants across 47 countries, highlighting the growing need for clear AI guidelines and proper training in professional settings.

As AI adoption continues to rise in Swiss workplaces, the gap between usage and responsible implementation presents a challenge for organizations to address through improved policies and education.
