Tesla has unveiled an unconventional job opportunity that's drawing widespread attention - a position that pays up to €6,000 monthly for walking eight hours a day while wearing specialized equipment.

The role involves donning a motion-capture suit and virtual reality (VR) headset to help train Tesla's humanoid robots. Selected candidates will perform various movements, from basic actions like sitting and standing to more complex maneuvers, aimed at teaching the company's robots how to navigate real-world environments.

However, the position comes with strict physical requirements. Applicants must be between 1.70 and 1.80 meters tall to properly fit the motion capture suits. The job demands exceptional stamina, as employees will need to maintain continuous movement throughout their shifts while managing the weight of the equipment.

Tesla acknowledges the physical challenges, noting that some workers may experience disorientation or nausea from prolonged VR headset use. The position also requires schedule flexibility, including potential night shifts, weekends, and overtime work.

This unique initiative is part of Tesla's ongoing development of the Optimus robot, which was revealed in late 2023. Currently operational in Tesla's Fremont factory for basic tasks, the Optimus robot, priced at approximately €22,000, is designed to perform various functions from object manipulation to household chores.

The company aims to use the motion capture data collected from these walking sessions to refine their robots' movements and capabilities, ultimately working toward making these automated assistants available for wider commercial and personal use.
